How to Sew a Doll Tote Bag – Easy Sewing Tutorial + FREE Pattern
Today I’m sharing a cute and easy sewing project for your dolls — a little tote bag!
This doll tote bag is simple to sew and is a great project if you are looking for a quick and fun doll accessory. You can also use your favorite fabric scraps to make it extra cute.
I’ve created a FREE pattern for this doll tote bag, so you can easily make your own. You’ll find the pattern and all the measurements below.

FREE PATTERN
For this doll tote bag, you will need:
Main fabric – 21 cm × 21 cm
Lining fabric – 21 cm × 21 cm
Fusible fleece – 21 cm × 21 cm
Straps – cut 2 rectangles, 5 cm × 23 cm each
You can use cotton fabric or other lightweight woven fabrics for this project.
HOW TO SEW THE DOLL TOTE BAG
1. Prepare the fabric
Start by folding the main fabric and the lining fabric twice. Measure and mark a 7 × 7 cm square and cut it out.
Repeat the same step with the lining fabric and the fusible fleece.
Iron the fusible fleece onto the wrong side of the main fabric.
2. Make the straps
Take the two strap pieces and fold them as shown in the video.
Topstitch along both sides of the straps.
Set the straps aside while you prepare the bag.
3. Sew the main bag
Fold the main fabric as shown in the tutorial and sew the raw edges closed.
Repeat the same steps until all the raw edges are sewn.
Turn the bag right side out and gently push out the corners to make them nice and crisp.
4. Sew the lining
Repeat the same steps with the lining fabric.
Remember to leave a small opening on one side of the lining. We will use this opening to turn the bag right side out later.
Continue sewing all the remaining raw edges closed.
5. Attach the straps
Take the straps and place them right next to the seams.
Tack the straps in place with a few stitches.
6. Attach the lining
Take the lining and place the bag inside, with the right sides facing each other.
Match the seams and pin everything in place.
Sew around the top edge to close the bag.
7. Turn the bag right side out
Turn the bag right side out through the opening we left in the lining.
Sew the opening in the lining closed.
Tuck the lining inside the bag and clip the top edge in place before topstitching.
Topstitch around the top edge for a neat finish.
YOUR DOLL TOTE BAG IS FINISHED!
And you’re all done! Now you have a cute little tote bag for your doll. 💕
You can make it in different fabrics and colors to create a whole collection of little doll bags. It’s also a fun way to use up small fabric scraps.
