Looking for a quick and easy sewing project? This lined zipper pouch is perfect for beginners and a great way to use up fabric scraps. It’s practical, cute, and comes together faster than you might think!
In this step-by-step tutorial, I’ll show you how to sew a lined zipper pouch that looks neat both inside and out.
✂️ Materials & Measurements
Main fabric: 18 cm x 14 cm (cut 2)
Lining fabric: 18 cm x 14 cm (cut 2)
Zipper: 18 cm
Tag (optional)
Instructions
1. Prepare your pieces
Start by cutting your main fabric and lining fabric according to the measurements above. If you’re using a tag, sew it onto the main fabric first (this step is optional).
2. Attach the zipper
Place the zipper right sides together with the front piece of your main fabric. Then place the lining piece on top, aligning all edges. Sew along the top edge.
Repeat the same steps for the other side of the zipper.
3. Topstitch
Topstitch along the zipper to give it a clean, professional finish and help it lay flat.
4. Assemble the pouch
Open the zipper halfway (this is important!).Fold the pouch right sides together and align the seams. Pin the sides, making sure everything lines up neatly.
5. Sew around
Sew all the way around the pouch, but leave a small opening in the lining fabric so you can turn it later.
6. Trim and turn
Trim the seam allowance slightly to reduce bulk.Turn the pouch right side out through the opening and gently push out the corners for a clean shape.
7. Finish
Close the opening in the lining by stitching close to the edge.Tuck the lining inside the pouch and shape it nicely.
Final Result
And that’s it — your lined zipper pouch is finished! This project is perfect for organizing small items, makeup, or sewing supplies.
